01Who we are

Oishworjo operates Oishworjo Audiobooks.

References to “Oishworjo”, “we”, “us” and “our” in this Privacy Policy refer to the operator of the Oishworjo Audiobooks service.

Where applicable data-protection law uses the term “controller”, Oishworjo acts as the controller of the personal information described in this Policy.

02Information we handle

Depending on how you use Oishworjo Audiobooks, we may handle your email address, optional display name, internal account identifiers, authentication and session information, saved audiobooks or favourites, bookmarks, listening progress, playback-related service information, ratings or reviews you choose to submit, and information you provide when contacting support.

Phase 1 of Oishworjo Audiobooks does not process customer payment information because payment functionality is not currently provided.

03Account registration and authentication

Your email address is used as your Phase 1 customer identity.

Registration includes verification of your email address.

After verification, you create a four-digit PIN for Oishworjo authentication and account-security purposes.

Oishworjo does not store your PIN as readable plaintext. A protected cryptographic representation is maintained so the PIN can be verified securely without retaining the original PIN.

Authentication/session information is used to keep you signed in and protect customer-specific functionality.

04Why we use personal information

We may use personal information to create and operate your account, authenticate you, provide audiobook streaming, operate your library, maintain saved audiobooks and bookmarks, remember listening progress, protect customer accounts and the service, respond to support requests, fulfil account-deletion requests, investigate technical or security issues, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Where applicable law requires a lawful basis for processing, the applicable basis may include performance of our agreement with you, legitimate interests in securely operating and improving the service, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where we specifically request it.

We do not currently sell customer personal information.

We do not currently use Oishworjo Audiobooks customer information to provide behavioural advertising.

05Listening, library and playback information

When you use library and playback functions, information such as saved audiobooks, bookmarks and listening position may be associated with your account.

This allows features such as Library and Continue Listening to work.

Technical playback requests may also contain information reasonably required to provide authenticated streaming, such as the audiobook or chapter requested and related application/service metadata.

06Ratings and reviews

Where Oishworjo allows customers to submit ratings or reviews, the content you choose to submit may be associated with your account and may be displayed within the service.

When your customer account is permanently deleted through the account-deletion process, customer-submitted ratings and reviews associated with that account are also deleted.

07Support communications

If you contact Oishworjo for assistance, we may process your contact information, the contents of your request and information reasonably necessary to investigate and respond to the matter.

Never send your PIN, OTP, password, session token or other secret authentication information to Oishworjo through email or telephone.

08Service providers

Oishworjo uses selected technology and infrastructure service providers for functions such as authentication, database and application infrastructure, hosting, secure media storage and media delivery.

Those providers may process information on our behalf only where reasonably necessary to provide their services.

We seek to limit provider access and processing to appropriate operational purposes and apply reasonable contractual, technical and organisational safeguards.

09International processing

Oishworjo is based in Bangladesh.

Technology infrastructure and service providers may operate in Bangladesh and other countries. Information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, Oishworjo will take appropriate steps required by that law.

10Public website and device preferences

The public Oishworjo Audiobooks website may remember limited preferences on your device, such as your selected language or light/dark theme.

The Phase 1 public website is not intended to use advertising cookies or behavioural marketing trackers.

Hosting and security infrastructure may process standard technical request information reasonably necessary to deliver, protect and maintain the website.

11Data retention

Oishworjo retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it is processed, including provision of the service, account and service security, customer support and applicable legal requirements.

The appropriate retention period depends on the type of information, its purpose and whether continued retention is necessary for legal, security or operational reasons.

We should not retain identifiable customer information indefinitely where it is no longer reasonably required.

12Account and data deletion

You can initiate permanent deletion of your Oishworjo account through the Oishworjo mobile application.

Information about deletion and the outside-app deletion-request route is available at:

Where possible, contact us from the email address associated with your Oishworjo account.

We may need to take reasonable steps to verify that the request relates to your account before completing an outside-app request.

Never provide your PIN, OTP, password or authentication token to us by email.

Once deletion has been successfully completed, the account and customer-linked information are removed in accordance with the Oishworjo account-deletion process. This includes authentication credentials and sessions, customer profile information, saved/favourite audiobook state, bookmarks, listening progress and customer-submitted ratings and reviews.

Limited information may be retained only where retention is required or otherwise lawfully permitted under applicable law, and only for the necessary purpose and period.

13Security

Oishworjo uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect customer information.

These include protected authentication data, encrypted network communications, restricted administrative access, controlled backend permissions and protected access to audiobook media.

No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security.

14Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights relating to your personal information.

These may include rights to request access to your information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, portability where applicable, or objection to certain processing.

Where processing is based on consent, applicable law may give you the right to withdraw that consent.

You may contact hello@oishworjo.com to make a privacy-related request.

Where UK data-protection law applies, you may also have rights under the UK GDPR and a right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to remove or limit mandatory privacy or consumer rights available to you under applicable law.

15Children's privacy

Oishworjo Audiobooks is not directed to children under the age of 13.

If you are below the age at which you can independently consent to or agree to use an online service under the laws where you live, you should use Oishworjo only with the involvement or permission of a parent or legal guardian where required.

If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to applicable requirements, contact hello@oishworjo.com.

16Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service, our information practices or applicable requirements change.

The “Last updated” date at the beginning of this Policy will identify the latest revision.

Where a change materially affects how customer information is handled, we will take reasonable steps to make the updated information available to affected customers.
